I have to give a thumbs down to “Springtime at Hershey” for those of you who go for the coasters. We still had a great time on a beautiful day but but were disappointed to find six of the 10 coasters closed. The only coasters open were Comet, Superdooperlooper, Great Bear and Trailblazer. Even though it was a small crowd (it was Easter), we waited nearly 20 minutes to rider the Looper, and when was the last time you stood in line for that ride? We rode by the park on Saturday and saw that Lightening Racers, the Ferris Wheel, and Wildcat were all running so I surmise that they didn’t open on Sunday due to expected lower attendance yet we paid the same price. I am a huge fan and have visited every summer for the past 15 years but this was extremely disappointing and will recommend to others to not bother with off-season visits. –Jim from Boonton, NJ

This is definitely the best theme park in the East! I can’t believe they introduced two excellent rides (Fahrenheit and The Howler) in the same year. And the Boardwalk is awesome! My whole family comes every year and we love it. —Jeff from Oneonta, NY

My family goes to Hershey at least twice a summer. My tips are:

  • Use Hershey Preview to get a few free hours on the rides the night before your first day at the park.
  • Wear comfortable sandals but not flip flops (which might fall off during some rides).
  • Do the waterpark first if you like the big raft rides. It gets very crowded later in the day and the wait times are very long. When you need to cool off in the park, you can always go on one of the flume rides that get you wet.
  • Wear your bathing suits under your clothes and don’t forget towels. —Kim from Scranton, PA

We did the math and, considering all the perks you get, this place is worth the $289 we spent each night. So much fun for the kids! We’ll be back, but next time we’ll get a first-floor room with walk-out to our car. —Cathleen from Baltimore, MD

Had a great time! Hotel was accommodating to us all, especially the kids. Well worth the price. Lots of perks for staying, too! —Kathy from Middle Village, NY

We had a wonderful stay at Hershey Lodge in early June. Our room was on the ground floor in the Reese’s wing, so we could walk outside and be at our car or go to the pool in two seconds—soooo convenient. Our favorite restaurants at the hotel were the Bear’s Den and Cocoa Beanery. They both were affordable and had the kind of foods my kids like to eat. When we come back next year, I’m going to request the same room or one close by. —Monica from Princeton, NJ
